The current Bundle Up pattern sale's theme is all about GIRLS so I was super excited to join in on the blog tour. The pattern I chose to review is the new Rachel Dress by ModKid!
The Rachel is meant to be made with knit fabrics so I decided to use up some more of this fun ice cream print from Kitschy Coo. Bean is really into purple lately and it's all she asks to wear, so I paired the ice cream with this interweave chambray from Imagine Gnats (*affiliate link).
Now the chambray isn't knit and according to the pattern instructions the ruffles are also supposed to be made using knit fabric so I took a leap trying them with a woven. It worked out great since this knit fabric is pretty sturdy and the chambray was only used for pieces that didn't need to stretch. Just be careful if you try the same thing at home!
I was really surprised with how quickly this pattern came together. It seems like I've been making a lot of lined bodices lately so making a knit dress that only had one layer to deal with made the process really smooth. As usual, ModKid did a great job describing each step of the process which which I'm sure added to the ease of sewing.
There is a long sleeve option, but I decided to look ahead to spring (even though it's a long way off!) and make the dress short sleeved. I love this fabric combo so much and I'd be so sad to only have a couple of months of wear out of it.
If you like the Rachel, consider purchasing it as part of the Bundle Up sale! You can build your own bundle, selecting only the patterns you plan to use so there is a great value. Read more about the details here. And check out the other stops on the tour! I have one more pattern from the bundle to show you so keep your eyes open for a new post soon!
