Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon

You all know the game Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon right?  Where you name an actor and can trace back through the other actors with whom they have worked to a movie with Kevin Bacon within six people?  Well Sew the Show is having their first blog tour and with a little brainstorming the theme of Six Degrees of Separation was born.

Holiday Debut

There's a super fun Holiday tour going on this week and I am so excited to participate!  The three ladies behind The Wolf and Tree, Hello Holli, and Chalk and Notch have banded together to celebrate their debut year of pattern design.  I'm sure you've seen the three featured patterns around this year as they were VERY successful, but 24 bloggers got together to mix and match the three for the holidays.

Do you ever see a pattern and just know it's going to be well used?  I felt that way when I saw the new ADVTee from Sofilantjes and Deb from Sprouting Jube Jube is hosting a tour for it this week so there's plenty of inspiration out there for you to look at.

Long Sleeved Paneled Sunsuit Christmas Dress - Cyber Monday

It's Cyber Monday and the last day of the Designs by Call Ajaire Etsy shop sale!  You get 40% off with the code DbCABLACK and if you join the Designs by Call Ajaire Facebook group there's a coupon code for 50% off.  That makes the Paneled Sunsuit pattern only $5 which is crazy.

Petit Oiseau

One of my favorite designers is Mel of Filles a Maman.  Her designs are thoughtful, with a unique flair, and yet the construction remains relatively simple.  For children's clothing that's exactly what I'm looking for: quick sew with a big impact.  Her Petit Oiseau shirt is on tour this week and it is no exception.

Calvin Cargo Pants - Momma Quail Patterns

My friend Amy from Friends Stitched Together is having a pattern tour for her Momma Quail Patterns and I gladly joined in.  I love her aesthetic and attention to detail with the clothes she makes for her boys, so I knew her clothes patterns would be well designed and stylish.  It was hard to choose just one to make, but in the end Bean needs more pants so I chose the Calvin Cargo Pants.

Wear to Where - Coffee Shop

Guys!  I've been waiting what feels like forever to share with you this Wear to Where tour hosted by Wild+Wanderful and Gardening in High Heels!  It is such a fun and original idea and I'm honored to be a part of it.  The idea was to take several places or situations and then have sewing bloggers AND fashion/style bloggers post an outfit they would wear for the occasion.  It's a melding of worlds and so far the tour has been a lot of fun to "watch."

Festive Felties - One Thimble Issue 9

Issue 9 of One Thimble (*affiliate link) is out and packed with loads of goodies!  The theme is vintage circus and the patterns are adorable, but the first thing that caught my eye in this issue was a little Christmasy felt project by Molly and Mama so I grabbed my felt and jumped right in.

Dia De Los Muertos - Sugar Skull Kitty Redux

How quickly is autumn slipping away?  It feels like it just started and yet Halloween is upon us!  Luckily the weather here should stay fall-like through most of November so I still have time to enjoy my favorite season.  There are so many fun holidays ahead and one that we didn't celebrate growing up, but has become something I really look forward to is Dia De Los Muertos or the Day of the Dead.  November 1st is set aside to honor and remember with celebration those who have passed. Melissa from Rebel & Malice is hosting another Dia De Los Muertos tour and I'm happy to participate again this year.

A Birthday Tour and the Deep Bust Adjustment

Remember last October, almost a full year ago, when I made the Marbella Dress from Itch to Stitch?  Well that was her first official pattern released and it's exciting to think that the 1 year anniversary of Itch to Stitch* designs is upon us.  To celebrate, there's a birthday tour with a giveaway, amazing - unheard of for Itch to Stitch -  discounts, and a great group of bloggers who all set out to put their own spin on one or more Itch to Stitch patterns.  *This post contains affiliate links

Momiform Makeover - a Work In Progress

You know what a momiform is right?  The outfit you wear for comfort and practicality while chasing your kids around all day.  About a year and a half ago, I got myself out of the whole yoga pants with a tee rut by sewing a few Alder Skirts and Trifecta Tees.  I adore both of those patterns, but to be honest I was starting to feel like I was in another rut.  So over the past few months I've been trying to find the time to sew for myself a little more and happily, the opportunity came up to sew a Mom-iform makeover along with Lauren Dahl (from Baste + Gather) and a group of amazing bloggers.

Not Just a Sunsuit Day 7 - Not Just for Little Kids

We all know that the sizing of the Paneled Sunsuit is from newborn to 12 years, but for day seven of the "Not Just a Sunsuit" tour there are some great "older kid" looks that really show how the pattern will work for the non toddler/babies.  I had the tween agers in mind when making some of the separates options, so I love seeing them in use.

Not Just a Sunsuit Day 4 - Lots of Options

It's day four of the Paneled Sunsuit "Not Just a Sunsuit" tour and today you'll get a good look at why I called this tour the not just a sunsuit tour.  There are so many great options in this pattern and my friends have put them to use!

Before we get to the good stuff I wanted to give you a sneak peek of Bean wearing the new long sleeve add-on.  This is a pic from Instagram last week, but we're working on testing behind the scenes and I'm hoping to have it available as a free download by the end of the weekend.  Very exciting, right?  Okay, let's move on to the tour.

Not Just a Sunsuit Day 2 - Separates and a Maxi Skirt

Well day one of the Paneled Sunsuit "Not Just a Sunsuit" tour was fantastic, but let's try to top it anyway!  Just a quick note, that I've changed the end date of the coupon code to run through Labor Day (in the US) which is the 7th of September.

First up on the tour today is Gracious Threads.  This tank and shorts combo is the perfect summer outfit and both are views from the pattern which is so fun to see.  She mentions in the post how she added a bit of length to the cropped tank which looks so good.  I have to say the shorts I made for Bean are the most worn this summer.  She chooses them whenever they're clean so they must be comfy!

S is for SEWING

It's time for another round of Sewing with Boys - Girl Edition.

The lovely ladies at Sewing with Boys have created another amazing e-Book, this time with a back to school theme.  You may wonder why I keep joining these boy sewing tours, but the answer is simple: they take "boy" styles and jazz them up with ALL THE DETAILS.  For girls you can make an a-line skirt special by adding ruffles or bows, but for boys you need to have a little more imagination.  And this 'S' is for Sewing e-book is full of a ton of special little details any boy or girl would love.

Alice In Wonderland - 150th Anniversary

Alice's Adventures In Wonderland was one of my favorite books when I was younger.  So much so that I read Through the Looking Glass as well to absorb as much Alice as I could.  I even have The Walrus and the Carpenter poem (recited by Tweedledee and Tweedledum) memorized still.

Nani IRO En Garden Challenge

I've been so excited about today's post!  Rachael from Imagine Gnats challenged April, Brooke, and I to a super fun challenge.  We were sent the same Nani IRO En Garden fabric (*affiliate link) to make anything we'd like and then were pitted against one another in a sort of "who sewed it best" competition.  I'm always up for a friendly competition and was drooling over the fabric she chose, so of course I jumped right in.

The Trouser View and a 4th of July Celebration

Happy Fourth of July to all you Americans out there!  Today's Paneled Sunsuit focus is on the Trousers (view G in the pattern).

These loose-fitting pants are the bottom half of the jumpsuit so they are designed to sit a bit high-waisted.  There are options for no pockets, regular pockets, and pockets with a faux piping like the pops of red in these pair.  These are made with a light-weight denim from JoAnn Fabrics, but they are designed to work with a variety of wovens and even a hefty knit like a ponte de roma as well.

Paneled Sunsuit Pattern Release

Today is the day!

It's been more than a year in the making, but today the the Paneled Sunsuit pattern is officially released and I couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out.  It's been super slow here on the blog lately because my time for working is very limited and I had to switch gears from blogging to designing, so I thank you for your patience during this process and can't wait to get back to some regular blogging this summer.
