MCM Studio Designs Tour

I'm so happy to be here on the final day of MCM Studio Designs first official blog tour!  You may remember this burgeoning designer from the Estherlyn's Tobago Mashup last year or even the Love Bird dress from Valentine's day.  I've yet to be disappointed with one of her lovely patterns and can't recommend them enough!

For this tour, I chose the Gingersnap Tunic and Dress which I hadn't sewn before.  It's another adorable style that I know we'll get a lot of use out of.

The loose fitting kimono sleeve looks comfortable yet adorable with the pleated A-line skirt.  The curve at the bottom of the front and back bodice is a great place to add some piping or trim to add a little flare to the dress.

I decided to go for a more casual feel using some stretch lace from JoAnn Fabrics and some more of the lovely stretch vera sateen in azure from Imagine Gnats (affiliate link).  The lightweight feel of the striped lace mixed with the heavier sateen is a fun combination for spring and I love the way the blue really pops with the black and white stripes.

The neckline is squared to add even more interest to this great dress.  It's a really quick sew (with illustrations helping you along the way) so I can see making a few of these in tunic length for school in the fall for sure.

The back has a button and loop closure that is tied into the back neckline facing which makes it even easier to sew.  Please ignore the water spot in the pic above. It was damp out and she couldn't help running around the back yard before these pictures so it was bound to happen, hehe.

The sizing of the Gingersnap runs from 2t to 6 and I made Bean a size 4.  It (along with the other patterns in the shop) is on sale for 25% off through April 25th using the code SPRINGSALE25 so take advantage and grab all three patterns today!

It's been a great tour, so don't forget to check out some other inspiring looks from the earlier posts!

  3. I like the shape, but as always, I'd do a boring one color throughout. I just can't mix patterns and colors!

  4. You are so good at choosing fabrics! I love the way you mix up prints and textures. This is a fun dress and the bodice makes it a great pattern to mix fabrics.

  7. Yes, you are boring haha. But actually, I have seen some with one color and just piping inbetween that look cool.
