The Anywhere Dress

Andrea from The Train To Crazy and Go To Patterns (affiliate link) was nice enough to let me review one of her newest dress patterns.  It's an easy-sew knit dress called the Anywhere Dress (affiliate link).

From the picture on the site I knew right away this would be a staple dress in Bean's wardrobe.  FOR YEARS.  Seriously, the pattern comes with sizes 12M to 12 years.  That's a lot of grading hehe.

I chose to make the three quarter length sleeve since we still have some cool days here this spring and with any luck, the length will still work for fall.  The sleeves will actually BE three quarter length instead of just look like they are as they do with the rest of her long sleeved dresses she's growing out of.

If you like knits and haven't spent any time in the clearance XXL racks at Old Navy, then hop to it!  I found this great light-weight sweater for a couple of dollars earlier this spring knowing it would make a great dress for Bean.  And with that kind of price, HUGE sizes, and the adorable buttons on the shoulder that I can still use for another project I am so happy I bought it.

I thought the Anywhere Dress would be so cute in the navy and white stripe, so I cut out the 2T size last week and tried to find time to sew it together.  The pieces were sitting on my ironing board screaming at me to be sewn, but I had way too many projects going at once.  When I finally sewed them together it took 20 minutes.  Yes.  20 minutes.  True, I used my serger and used the original hem of the sweater, but that is still a ridiculously quick sew.

The thing that took the longest was trying to get the stripes to line up.  And even that I didn't kill myself trying to make perfect.  I don't think I've ever been more impressed with the results of anything I've made that came together so quickly.

My older sister was visiting last week, so we took Bean to the Zoo.  She loved it!  She has a slight obsession with pandas so she really loved seeing this panda statue.  She tried to sit in its lap.

Here's one of her mesmorized by the real thing eating bamboo, hehe.

It was a little chilly so I had her wear leggings under the dress, but it was still so cute.  If I could get away with it I would absolutely wear that same style haha.

Thank you Andrea for another great Go To pattern (affiliate link)!

*I have recently added affiliate links for Blank Slate Patterns and Go To Patterns on my sidebar as well as in some of the links in this post, but I sewed using their patterns long before even considering it. These are just great patterns that I truly stand by and I am excited about being an affiliate.

  2. She looked so chic in that dress, especially when she grabbed my sunglasses and put them on. Very Bain de Soleil (remember those ads?) She was wearing another blue and white outfit another did and the glasses made her look all pulled together again. Navy blue and white, especially in a stripe are a favorite of mine. The dress was a great length on her and I think the leggings go well with it. I can't imagine her not wearing the leggings with it!
