Cherry Pie Skirt Tour

Today I'm happy to be on the Cherry Pie Skirt tour for Lisa of PiePie Designs.

The Cherry Pie skirt is a quick sew with a ton of options so it's sure to be a staple.  The sizing runs from 12M to 12Y which means we'll get a lot of use out of this pattern, which is always a plus.

I decided to make Bean a swim skirt that she could wear over her bathing suit on the way to the pool.  I told you this summer is all about the pool, hehe.

The pattern has an option for a reversible skirt so I used those instructions and just shortened the skirt by about an inch and a half so it wouldn't be too bulky with the weight of the lycra.

The fabric is from Michael Levine which I bought with their big Black Friday discount (or maybe it was Cyber Monday) last November.  I know people probably thought I was crazy buying swimsuit fabric coming into winter, but it was an amazing price and now I have a nice stash of swimsuit fabric to mix and match.

Guys, I think I'm addicted to making swimming suits.  When I decided to make a swim skirt for this tour I took the excuse to make this other Shandiin/Cosi MashUp I'd been dreaming about. I love those two prints together.  The gingham is a bit more red than the pictures show, but it looks great with the large plaid.

The high low hem adds some interest, while the gathered waist makes this pattern easy enough for a beginner.  Bean was running around the yard while I was trying to get a decent picture or two so in the pics the skirt is hanging a little lower than it does normally.

She insisted on the boots even though it was sweltering.  In fact she wore the whole outfit when we went out to the library, so she definitely likes it.  I think I'll be making more of these skirts for the fall too.  They are so quick to make it'd be crazy not to, hehe.

And you'd be crazy not to enter this giveaway!

There's only one more day to get this fantastic pattern for the discounted price of $5.  After June 27th it'll be back to it's normal, reasonable price of $7.
